Kevin Winger studied oil painting privately in Ojai, California under artist Sharon Butler, giving him an early competency with the medium.
In his youth and into early adulthood, Kevin experimented with many artistic endeavors including photography, music and writing. In 2007 Kevin discarded all of his paintbrushes and embraced palette knives. Later that same year he broke from a representational style and embarked on a series of creative journeys within the medium, generating heavily textured panels that push the limits of two dimensional art. Through his exploration Kevin strives to achieve maximum saturation of color and rely on spontaneous expression to drive the evolution of his works.
In June 2010 Kevin opened Mod-Est Studio Gallery in Point Loma, California, at Liberty Station; San Diego’s burgeoning Arts and Cultural District, to contribute to the cultural legacy of the emerging arts in San Diego, CA.
