San Diego Watercolor Society

Formed in 1965, The San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) is a volunteer-run nonprofit art organization that includes nearly 700 Members. We sponsor Member Shows, an annual International Exhibition, and hold workshops and painting demonstrations in order to encourage students, viewers, and artists of all ages.

The Opening Reception for each exhibit is held in conjunction with Friday Night Liberty, on the first Friday of each month, from 5-8 pm with 95-100 original ready-to-hang paintings for sale, plus wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts.

The gallery is open Weds-Sun, 11am - 3pm, and is free to the public. Visit www.sdws.org for more information and to view our online gallery. The SDWS facility includes nearly 4,000 square feet with a gallery, an education center for workshops and classes, and a reference and instructional library for watermedia artists.

We are also devoted to arts education for all ages. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the SDWS Education Committee currently has four main programs: Community Outreach for Youth and Seniors, Liberty School, Military Family Arts Program, and Adult Beginner Watercolor Workshops.
