Light Box Live Arts

A progressive facility, formerly used as a training center for the military, now transformed into a fully equipped, exceptionally vibrant, all-white performance space. Recently renamed Light Box, formerly White Box, this performance space can be used in many ways, offering natural light during the day, and expressive lighting design framing evening performances, this space has a clear personality! Opposite to traditional Black Box Theaters, the Light Box is an ideal, transformable, and fresh environment for artists to produce their work. Light Box resides in Building 176 in the NTC Arts & Culture District at the former Naval Training Center in Point Loma. The space is under the production and sponsorship of SAN DIEGO DANCE THEATER. Mission: Light Box’s mission is to engineer an accessible environment that Curates, Produces and Educates artists. Curate: Facilitating through invitation, grants and sponsors of live art exhibitions and performances from artists residentially, nationally and internationally. Produce: Provide a rehearsal and performance space for local and non-local artists, via a variety of rental packages affordable to Companies and emerging choreographers. Educate: Use the space to provide access to interactive workshops, Master Classes, and Seminars for performing artists.
