Marisa Olson
Marisa Olson (they/them) is a fiber artist born in Ohio and living in San Diego. Olson’s work explores themes of love, obsession, self-reflection, and comfort. Using fabric, needles, and thread, they create quilts and tapestries that focus on intimacy and vulnerability. Olson’s works encourage viewers to slow to down, reflect and consider the emotional threads that bind us to one another. Their quilts become spaces where tenderness reigns supreme in a harsh world.
In 2020, Olson graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing and a minor in Art History. After graduating in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Olson made the transition from painting to fiber art. In 2025, they moved to San Diego. Their work has been exhibited throughout Ohio and in Pennsylvania. They are a current Emerging Artist in Residence for Visual Arts with Arts District Liberty Station.
