World War I Panel

The World War I image is that of a Field of Poppies, soldiers on patrol in the background, and a kneeling soldier releasing the courier pigeon, Cher Ami. A series of hoof prints in a muddied Battlefield is placed as a middle band across the Panel. The soldiers on patrol and the kneeling soldier releasing Cher Ami were created with drywall screws. A special courier pigeon message capsule will also be included with the message Cher Ami delivered. The hoof prints were created by horses- Austin Powers, Jessie, and Stormy- walking over the canvas(plywood) to give their impressions of hoof prints. The hoof prints honor the over 8 million pack animals- horses, donkeys, and mules- lost in WWI. The Field of Poppies in the foreground is created from drywall screws and the Field of Poppies in the midground was created by Einstein, my Emotional Support K9, who honors the over one million K9s lost in World War I. These animals were lost in addition to the enormity of human loss in the name of Freedom around the World.
