Korean War Panel
The Korean War image is that of nineteen statues that make up the Korean War Memorial in D.C. The Soldiers on patrol. These images were created with approximately 10,000 drywall and trim screws. The main objective of this Panel was to replicate the phenomenon of the ‘eyes’ following the observer no matter where the observer is in relation to the statutes. The technique, Trompe-l’oeil, is an ancient art technique of ‘deceiving eyes’ that is practiced by all cultures and artists. So, wherever the observer is in relation to this Panel, the Soldier’s eyes will follow you. The last Screw to be installed is dedicated to SGT Agapitos ‘Pete’ Saucedo.
