Unsung Heroes

The Unsung Heroes image is a collection of images from a variety of heroes that have been less recognized or honored for their heroism. The screws installed for the Unsung Heroes images include women- past (Korean War WAVE), present (Class 129 Chief Selectees), and future (Sea Cadet)- for the nurses, Afro-American servicemembers for the Tuskegee Airmen, a Navajo Combat Veteran for Code Breaker image, Einstein Pisano’s paw prints surrounding the Military Working Dog (MWD) image and lastly, Marie Dolopo, granddaughter of the first Filipino Enlisted, Tomas Dolopo along with fellow Filipino servicemembers and the exPOW Tom Crosby (coincidentally born in the Philippines) installing screws for the POW image. A special note is the image of the wounded soldier is that purposely painted as our Flag and arranged to simulate the Pietà by Michelangelo.
