Legacy Weekend
Liberty Station, the former Naval Training Center (NTC), has a rich history of service to the country and continues to serve the community as a successful adaptive reuse project. 2023 marks the 100-year anniversary of Liberty Station and we are celebrating with a Legacy Weekend Centennial Celebration in October. The celebration will be comprised of two major events: a Centennial Celebration Luncheon on Thursday, October 26th, and a Centennial Community Celebration on Sunday, October 29th.
The Legacy Weekend will kick off with a Luncheon Celebration on Thursday, October 26th, 2023, in Central Promenade and Building 177 (The Corky McMillin Companies Event Center). The luncheon will celebrate Liberty Station’s historical roots, honor the military community, and showcase Liberty Station businesses.
Attendees will include local politicians, business and community leaders, military dignitaries, and celebrants who were connected to NTC prior to its transformation into Liberty Station.
Proceeds from the event will preserve and celebrate the history of NTC/Liberty Station.
As a finale to the year-long celebration, the businesses at Liberty Station invite the community to join us for a free, family-friendly Centennial Celebration from noon to 4 pm. The festivities include trick-or-treating throughout Ingram Plaza, live entertainment, a costume contest, fun prizes, crafts, inflatables, recognition of the oldest living NTC recruit, and the burial of a time capsule to be opened in 25 years. All ages are encouraged to come decked out in their most elaborate costumes including a military-themed contest for each age division as well.
The Legacy Weekend Centennial Community Celebration will take place on Sunday, October 29th, 2023 from noon to 4 pm in Ingram Plaza. Join us to celebrate the history of Liberty Station!
