Gymnasium

Over the decades, Building 210 has served as a gymnasium, basketball facility, and fitness center. Surprise, it also had an underground swimming pool. During training, every sailor had to prepare for a possible ship sinking by jumping off a 20-foot platform and tread water.

Did you know?
Sailors learned how to create a makeshift flotation device in the water by taking off their dungarees, inflating the legs with air and tying them in a knot behind their neck.
