Birds of a Feather - Precious Things

What an artist does to create something beautiful. Clay, tiny canvases, paint, ink pens, water color paper, inside a 5x5 inch frame. Lately this is my daily meditative practice. I work for hours painting, inking natural shapes onto the canvases, and mold clay into thumbnail sized birds. Then wait for the birds to dry. A day later bisque fire, then carefully apply glaze and repeat firing. All these elements come together to create precious things. I select just the right background of watercolor washed paper & canvases with tender ink inscribed shapes so the tiny birds “sing”. Glue each bird onto the 2x2 inch canvas and then place on the watercolor paper, wait 24 hours. The final step - place into a frame. Voila! A ticklish joy!
These one-of-a-kind gems are a reminder to smile and feel a sense of wonder about precious little things.
