North Chapel, Building 208

Walking tour sign is located to the right of the entrance facing South Promenade

The only white building at the Naval Training Center, the North Chapel was a picturesque setting for the weddings of officers. Completed in 1942, the North Chapel Building hosted a wide array of religious services to meet the needs of recruits. A priest, a rabbi, a Baptist minister, and other clergy members conducted services for sailors of many faiths.

If you look up, you can see the colored stained glass windows that represent the various training schools at the Naval Training Center.

Did you know?
Actor Henry Fonda was the model for the fourth window on the left, a tribute to USN sailors.
