Teens & Adults Drawing & Painting Workshop (8 Week Course)

During this 8-week course, students 12+ will learn fundamental skills for both drawing and painting, exploring a variety of different mediums. The first two weeks of this workshop will focus on drawing and creating value with pencil. In the subsequent weeks, students will explore painting with watercolor and acrylic paint. Each week will center around a different master artist, and students are encouraged to recreate one of the artist’s works or emulate the artist’s style with a new subject. Every class incorporates the MONART drawing method—a guided method for drawing developed by artist Mona Brooks—as well as other drawing and painting techniques through a guided tutorial by Ms. Kayla. Students will learn about many different styles and artistic movements, the main differences between watercolor and acrylic paint, strategies for building value, texture, and color with different mediums, and how to develop a personal painting practice at home.
