Stitching Stories: What is Home? - Day 1: Writing & Textile Workshop
Presented by VMOTA in partnership with San Diego Writers, Ink.
This program was made possible through the Arts District Liberty Station Collaborative Funding Program.
Explore, Create, and Share Your Story Through Poetry + Textile Art
Join us this fall for a free two-part workshop that brings together poetry, fabric, and performance in a heartfelt exploration of What is Home? Whether you’re a seasoned artist, budding writer, or just curious about trying something new, this program invites you to express your story through words, stitches, and voice.
Day 1: Writing & Textile Workshop
Saturday, September 6, 11 am – 1 pm:
Craft a poem or haiku inspired by your idea of “home,” then bring it to life on fabric using techniques like embroidery, stamping, or textile writing. No experience necessary – just bring your story and your creativity!
Day 2: Exhibit & Showcase
Saturday, October 3, 5 pm – 8 pm:
Celebrate your work! Your finished piece will be displayed in VMOTA’s hallway gallery, alongside a video performance of your poem. Visitors can scan a QR code to watch your story unfold in your own voice.
You’ll have about one month between sessions to complete your textile piece and record your video – we’ll guide you along the way.
