Petals and Paint: Floral Design + Painting Workshop
A two-part workshop where floral design and painting come together.
Spend the day surrounded by fresh flowers, learning to design your own bouquet with a professional floral designer, then paint it on canvas in a real art studio, under the guidance of a professional artist.
Every level is welcome. Everything is included: flowers, vase, art supplies, easels, and all instructions from the two teachers, Ana Galena and Nikusha Beatty.
At the end of the workshop, you will take home your beautiful bouquet and your finished acrylic painting.
Floral Design Workshop with Ana Galena
Begin this creative journey in Ana’s floral studio, where you’ll be greeted by a beautifully curated flower bar filled with blooms of all colors, shapes, sizes, and varieties. These flowers are your palette, and Ana will guide you through the process of selecting and arranging them into a unique floral creation in a glass vase.
This workshop is about more than just arranging flowers—it’s about embracing your intuition. As you work with the natural movement and character of each bloom, you’ll learn to trust your instincts and create a design that feels authentically yours. The result will be a dynamic arrangement that reflects your personal touch and the joy of connecting with nature.
Painting Workshop with Nikusha Beatty
After designing your bouquet, you will capture its beauty on canvas! In the professional artist studio of Nikusha Beatty, all the art supplies will be waiting for you: easels, canvases, paints, and brushes. Painting directly from live flowers will be a beautiful experience. Nikusha will guide you through techniques to bring your arrangement to life, regardless of whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist.
Here’s what you’ll learn with Nikusha:
- How to compose
- Color mixing
- How to start your painting
- Underpainting technique or alla prima options
- How to create a beautiful, expressive artwork
You will be taught many other things that are necessary for creating a lively looking painting, such as how to create depth and dimension, utilize positive and negative shapes, and how to do it all in your own style.
Your instructor will show you examples from classic and contemporary masters to boost your inspiration, and offer you a lot of useful tips and painting techniques. You will start with a charcoal sketch on canvas, and then paint your bouquet under your instructor’s personalized guidance.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home your completed acrylic painting that’s ready to hang, your beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers in a glass vase, and the exciting experience of your artistic expansion.
At the end of the workshop, we’ll have an impromptu exhibition and a discussion of your experience.
No background in art or floral design is needed to participate. All the flowers with the vase and all art supplies are included.
Schedule:
10am - 11:30am: Introductions and floral design with Ana
11:30am - 12:30pm: Lunch break. Right next door within walking distance, there is a bustling market called Liberty Market, with over 20 food vendors, offering food for every taste. Lunch not included.
1:30pm - 3:30pm: Painting workshop with Nikusha
