outside time - an earth day celebration
join for an afternoon of outside time!
stop by anytime between 2-6pm at the north promenade. at this family friendly event, there will be dance performances, live sound, art making, a guided bird walk along the waterfront, a scavenger hunt, and a dance making workshop.
pack a picnic, bring something comfy to sit on, and invite a friend or two! there is limited shade, spf, hats, and umbrellas are recommended.
the schedule breakdown:
all afternoon- dirt painting with helena westra and seed paper printing with brian black
2-3pm- art making & live sound by zane s.b. and san diego new verbal workshop
3pm- sound & dance performance 1*
3:30pm- a guided bird walk along the waterfront with a local naturalist
4:30pm- sound & dance performance 2*
5-5:45pm- dance making workshop with giovanna francisco
* the same live performance will happen twice throughout the event. dance performances by rachel torres, odessa uno & aisha reddick, meesh herd & emmerson lahey, and lauren lee, liz fields, ryan tucker, & giovanna francisco. sound performances by san diego new verbal workshop.
this event is produced by giovanna francisco, an emerging dance artist in residence through arts district liberty station.
this event is largely inspired by adrienne maree brown’s principle “small is all” from her book Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds. this phrase “small is all” emphasizes the significance in starting small to make big change and advocating for one another in a chaotic world where we often feel so alone.
