J.T. Burke’s "Paradise" Makes Its San Diego Debut!
J.T. Burke, a celebrated artist known for his provocative visual narratives, brings his highly anticipated solo exhibition, "Paradise," to San Diego for the first time.
Opening at the Mandell Weiss Gallery on October 4, 2024 and running through January 17, 2025, this exhibition promises to challenge perceptions and spark conversation on the nature of human longing and the myth of utopia.
Drawing from vintage costume jewelry sourced from swap meets, garage sales, and forgotten drawers—Burke crafts luminous visions of an imagined utopia. The result is a series of works that juxtapose the mundane with the mythical, inviting viewers to lose themselves in their intricacy and wonder.
The opening will coincide with San Diego Ballet’s season debut event, “Overture.”
This free event offers a lively mix of contemporary art and dance, all within the Dorothea Laub Dance Place in ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station.
A program of San Diego Ballet. Funded in part by the Mandell Weiss Charitable Trust and the NTC Foundation. Curated by Elizabeth Tobias
