Intermediate Scandinavian Spoon Carving

Learn to Carve a Scandinavian Eater or Serving Spoon!
Sunday, June 28, from 9am-2pm

In this intermediate spoon carving workshop, Woodworker Paul Maschka guides students as they grow their carving skills. This class is for students who have taken Beginner Spoon Carving with Paul or have done some prior intricate wood carving with carving knives. Students will learn and use specific Scandinavian style tools to create beautiful yet functional spoons for eating or serving food. Students will learn to carve from a green log of wood to a finished, elegant spoon, while also learning safe tool practices, proper body mechanics, and how to sharpen your carving tools. All tools and supplies will be provided for this course.

PREREQUISITE: This class is designed for the intermediate carver. Students should have either taken Beginner Spoon Carving with Paul, or have previous experience with intricate wood carving, before enrolling in this workshop.

All of the necessary tools and materials will be available to students for this class. Tools and chopping blocks will be available for purchase after the class.

No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome, or 14+ years with an accompanying adult!
