Fragmented Stories Exhibit & Opening Reception
Fragmented Stories, a dual exhibition by Eden DeLaVara and Marcela Alarcón López. This exhibition marks the conclusion of their 6-month period as Emerging Artists in Residence for Visual Arts 2025-2026, at Arts District Liberty Station.
Eden and Marcela’s projects highlight the realities of being a young woman of color working as an artist in our region during a time of social and political uncertainty, militarization, and racism. From the intimate search for belonging within a multicultural family, to the daily border crossing and commute, DeLaVara and Alarcón exchange their experiences and give us a glimpse into life in the San Diego/Tijuana region in our current times. The exhibition is curated by Francisco Eme and supported by The FRONT Arte y Cultura as part of the David G. Fleet Curator-in-Residence program at Arts District Liberty Station.
