First Friday at Visions Museum of Textile Art in Collaboration with Pointeworks
We are excited to share VMOTA’s history by highlighting artwork from our permanent collection during our monthly First Fridays events. This month's piece is "Golden" by Peggy Brown. The importance of permanent art collections in museums lies in their role as a vital resource for understanding history, art, and culture. These collections serve as a reflection of the institution’s values and aspirations, allowing visitors to explore the styles and beliefs of the community.
As part of this month's Arts District Liberty Station First Friday, Visions Museum of Textile Art and Pointeworks will present a unique collaboration celebrating the transformative power of textiles across artistic disciplines.
Alongside "Golden", Pointeworks will showcase the artistry behind ballet costume design, tracing the process from initial sketches on paper to fully realized garments brought to life onstage.
Both exhibits will be on display at the museum throughout the evening, culminating in a live performance by Pointeworks dancers at 6:00 PM. The performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to see textile art in motion, as costumes, movement, and visual storytelling converge in a living work of art.
