Contemporary Portraiture

Popular workshop - 2x SOLD OUT!
All supplies included

Interested in learning to paint people but feel intimidated with this subject matter? This workshop was designed with you in mind!

I’ll show you a beginner-friendly technique that will make painting faces fun and do-able, even if you have no experience. You’ll walk away impressed with how you can paint convincing faces. Learn how to let go of perfection or the “right” way to paint. We’ll study a number of contemporary masters to help you get inspired and see the possibilities for your own work.

You’ll learn how to work from observation and how to use a reference - not to copy exactly, but instead as a launching pad - and discover how to infuse your own vision and personality into your artwork.

Incorporate spontaneity and decisive decision-making in the same process. Learn the yin and yang of art-making.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have multiple portrait paintings. This course is not about realism - it is about letting go of perfection, enjoying the process, and surprising ourselves with what happens when we paint from the Right-Brain.

No art experience needed. This workshop will be beneficial for beginners and seasoned artists. Even self-described non-artists will benefit from this workshop. If you feel stuck and stagnant, this is the painting workshop for you.
