Afterschool Series | Kids Organic Garden & Craft, 6-12yrs

This class meets weekly on Tuesdays, 3-4 times each month, from 4 – 5:30pm
Children age 6-12 years are welcome!

Welcome to Craft Collective’s Organic Garden Club for kids! It’s a weekly space where kids may enjoy a harvest-culinary-prepared treat as they learn all about plot planning, companion planting, organic gardening maintenance, harvesting, seed saving, composting, and activities that progress the garden with each season. Garden Club gives kids an opportunity to become good stewards of the garden as they see firsthand the impact of their efforts. And this school year, each meeting will include a half hour of garden-related crafting, followed by plenty of time in the garden!

Gardening is proven to have a positive, grounding impact on mood and brain chemistry for all ages, but especially for children. Working in the garden helps kids grow & expand in so many ways! Kids practice and hone fine motor skills; use their five senses to learn about their environment; get excited about food and making healthy, nutritious choices; and feel connected to a larger picture and purpose in life. When we grow our own food, we are all more connected to it, and kids are especially more apt to eat things they’ve grown themselves in the garden!

Our organic & edible garden is a wonderful space we’ve developed to teach the community about how gardening in a small space can be quite abundant. The garden hosts several varieties of organic fresh fruits,
