Join us for our second annual Summer Solstice with the Arts in the Arts District Liberty Station. This year's expanded three day celebration of the arrival of summer begins at 6pm Friday June 21 and ends the evening of Sunday June 23. Start your summer off with treating your senses in this free celebration.
We awaken to the Solstice on Friday June 21. Friday's 6-8pm art centric events begin in Plaza 17 with an opening dance from San Diego Dance Theater, followed by open art studios and special exhibits throughout the Arts District. The sun sets on the longest day at 8 as we invite you to dine at one of our award winning Arts District restaurants.
Saturday June 22 noon-4pm, starts off with 108 yoga Sun Salutations in the North Promenade where the public is invited to join in. Nearby you will find public painting opportunities on our Solstice mural and community art tree, open art studios, music and specials including Solstice Tea Blend in Point Loma Tea, sun designs in Hot Spot, and a children's photo exhibit sponsored by Outside The Lens. "YOU are my Sunshine": for $1 you can add a "sun ray" to our Solstice sun rings, and write the name of the person who brightens your day (participants can have an opportunity ticket for a drawing for a gift certificate good at one of our Arts District art studios, or for two free classes at Pinot's Palette. And enjoy dinner at our great Liberty Station restaurants.
Sunday June 23 noon-4pm continues with public art, open studios, YOU are my Sunshine, and music. Picnic on the Promenade with lunches from Liberty Public Market, or enjoy music on their patio. Finish the day with dinner or dancing 6-9 at The LOT patio.
