The San Diego Watercolor Society
First-time visitors to Liberty Station are astonished to find such an impressive 4,000 square foot space dedicated solely to the presentation and celebration of world class watermedia art. There are access ramps available for disabled vistors from Historic Decatur Road and the promenade entrance in the rear. Ask our Gallery staff for assistance in finding ramp access to our Gallery.
More than 700 artists belong to The San Diego Watercolor Society and many show their work at the SDWS Gallery.
Each month a new show is presented to the public. The Opening Reception is on the First Friday of the month from 5-8 pm. All visitors are asked to vote for their favorite painting. The votes are tallied and a People’s Choice award is presented to a member artist for their work that inspired the winning number of votes. Our annual International Exhibition of paintings by artists from around the world is held in October during which time the Gallery is open every day from 10 am to 4 pm.
SDWS Gallery is a Showcase for the tremendous variety of watermedia art created by SDWS members. Artwork is available for sale along with greeting cards and other items.
The San Diego Watercolor Society, a nonprofit organization, depends on its members who volunteer to help in all departments as well as to staff the gallery during its hours of operation. At the Gallery, SDWS Volunteers meet and assist multinational visitors in viewing and acquiring art and provide support for SDWS’s prestigious Annual International Exhibition, First Fridays or participation in other gallery events. Entry to the Gallery is free.
