Shake up Spring at Friday Night Liberty on April 7 from 5 to 9 PM. This is San Diego’s most unique, fun and authentic event to find locally made art and gifts. Experience the arts with two dance performances featuring highlights from San Diego Dance Theater’s Live Arts Fest, three The San Diego Shakespeare Society pop-up performances, tunes from Loren Smith‘s The Jackstraws, AND SO MUCH MORE!

Visitors can start their stroll at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center – 2640 Historic Decatur Road and pick up a monthly program and District map.

MUSIC and PERFORMANCES
San Diego Dance Theater brings a sampling of their 10-day Live Arts Fest. Check out the diverse artists curated for the Live Arts Fest that showcases a blend of some of the best grassroots dance groups in the area along with notable choreographers from the San Diego region and beyond. Performances will be at 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM in WhiteBox – 2590 Truxtun Road on the second floor.

The San Diego Shakespeare Society is honored to perform in three Shakespeare short performances in site-specific locations around the ARTS DISTRICT. Come along for the adventure and see Shakespeare come alive through spoken word, music and dance by students featured in the Annual San Diego Student Shakespeare Festival. Then see all the performances on April 29th, where more than 500 students perform 10-minute scenes in Balboa Park. 20-minute performances will be on the North Promenade at 6:00, Liberty Public Market’s Firepit at 7:00, and the Barracks 14 Plaza Boat at 7:40.

Recreational Music Center hosts a DJ booth for amazing music and information about fun-filled programs for Summer Camp 2017. RMC offers one of the best music camp experiences for kids in San Diego. Choose between our Little Rockers Camps (Ages 4-6), our signature Rock Band Camp (Ages 6.5-8 and 9-12) for beginners, intermediate and advance players and our amazing Vocal Camps. Visitors to the booth will receive exclusive DISCOUNT PROMO CODES for Summer Camp savings. Your child is certain to have an experience they will not soon forget! Barracks 16/17 Plaza.

Loren Smith‘s The Jackstraws perform pop-up musical performances around the ARTS DISTRICT from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. Look out for their innovative themed shows.

The Loma Club will be having Local Artist Mark Fisher playing on the patio from 5:30-9:30 PM and hosts the Carlsberg Brand Ambassadors from 6pm-8pm handing out samples of their Premium Pilsner. Building 10.

INTERACTIVE ART
San Diego Museum Council and The San Diego Museum of Art welcomes you to get hands on with a floral activity inspired by the Museum’s annual Art Alive floral exhibition! You will have the opportunity of creating floral head-bands in correlation with our upcoming yearly fundraiser Art Alive, which brings floral interpretations of artworks to the Museum. Also enjoy a glass of wine in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! Barracks 15, Second Floor.

Lovejoy Creations welcomes you to make a card for a Veteran, and pick up a coloring page for “Military Child Month” Also displayed will be colorful wildlife art painted with a palette knife and classes you can take to further your creative side. Always serving refreshing cucumber mint lemonade. Barracks 19, Second Floor.

The Hot Spot Pottery Painting Candle Making & More invites you to get crafty in April! Check out fun spring items like flower pots, garden items, lanterns and of course dinnerware, mugs, goblets, beer steins and tons of fun, functional items for the kids. Create colorful, chunky candles, choose your scent and take the same visit. Open until 9 PM in Barracks 14.

NEW EXHIBITIONS
San Diego Comic Art Gallery features the return of legendary Howard Chaykin. Howard will be signing from 6 PM – 8 PM. We’ll have plenty of IDW Publishing’s “Star Wars” Artifact Editions on hand for sale as well as “Star Wars” Micro Fun-Packs for you to get signed. Outside items are allowed but please keep them limited to 5. Barracks 3.

MK Envision Galleries invites you to the unveiling of Spring Exhibit featuring Lee Sie. Sie uses digital photography to help express his artistic vision. He captures the raw material world, and then through the digital process, finesses his work into images that transcend representation and become inspiring works of art. 5 PM – 9 PM in Barracks 17.

San Diego Watercolor Society presents “Seeds of Inspiration”, an art exhibition juried by award-winning artist, Helen Schafer Garcia. See the Opening Reception from 5 – 8 pm with 95-100 original ready-to-hang paintings for sale, plus wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Building 202.

Lauren Allen LeVieux Artist Studio has moved to Barracks 16 Studio 104. See what you think of her latest work in its new environment and take home an original oil painting. Let art be your conversation. Barracks 16 ground floor.

Martha Pace Swift Gallery continues “The Secret Life of Paper” with Kathleen Kane-Murrell, featuring many new paintings by the artist. Building 201.

San Diego Brain Injury Foundation hosts Micky Schaefer. Micky was in her second year in Medical School at UC, Irvine when she was struck by an automobile in 1992. She paints and does beautiful sculptures as part of her recovery. Join SDBIF from 5 – 8 PM in Barracks 16 second floor.

M Fischbeck Studio Gallery features California impressionist, Peggy Fischbeck’s recent works. Barracks 19, Second Floor.

EAS Art Studio features Ellen Shorey’s newest works for spring and summer in Barracks 17.

Point Loma Tea features Jane Lafazio’s Tea Story. Each original collage contains a teabag within the artwork! Meet the artist and from 5 – 8 PM in Barracks 14.

Ron’s Shop features wood veneer pieces hand-cut with a chevalet using the classical French 18th century marquetry method. Barracks 15, Second Floor.

San Diego Writers, Ink See what the writers are up to and enjoy the newest Spring Fever art show in both gallery spaces. Barracks 16, Second Floor.

GROUP ART EXHIBITIONS
Visions Art Museum features small quilts by museum members in the Complementary Colors exhibition. Building 201.

ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station artists present a curated exhibit in the Dick Laub NTC Command Center in Building 200.

Expressive Arts Institute hosts a show of student artwork on Social and Political Responsibility. The artists will be present to educate and elaborate. Building 201, second floor.

New Americans Museum hosts ‘Amending the Bill of Rights’ a special traveling exhibit created by the National Archives and Records Administration commemorating the 225th anniversary of the ratification of this landmark document. NAM invites you to stop-by and connect directly with the people, places, and events that mark this historic document’s evolution. Building 201.
