ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station announces a Free Outdoor Summer Film Series beginning May 13 and running through October. The 2017 Series features films that spotlight “Heroes of the Arts on Film”
Summer will be ARTrageous at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station – San Diego’s fast growing arts and culture destination. With nearly 120 galleries, museums, artists, makers and creators throughout the campus, ARTS DISTRICT will be bursting with summer fun. A highlight will be the return of Liberty Station Second Saturday Cinema, a free outdoor film series which will take place on the second Saturday of each month starting on May 13 and running through October 14. This summer’s six films will feature Heroes of the Arts on Film and is produced in partnership with Pacific Arts Movement, presenters of the San Diego Asian Film Festival.
Featured films are curated by ARTS DISTRICT Resident Groups: Outside the Lens, San Diego Dance Theater, Malashock Dance, San Diego Ballet, Neisha’s Dance & Music Academy, San Diego Comic Art Gallery, Recreational Music Center, Guitars in the Classroom, Pacific Arts Movement, & Comickaze Comics Books and More.

August 12 – Sing (2016) 8:00 PM
September 9 – Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings (2012) at 7:00 PM
October 14 – Ghostbusters (2016) at 7:00 PM
In addition, Outside the Lens will curate a short film series comprised of independent, experimental, and documentary films. See one new short film each month screen immediately before the feature presentation. The films will be reflective of the art forms of ARTS DISTRICT resident groups, lending further voice to the diverse arts and culture community at Liberty Station.
Movie lovers are encouraged to grab a picnic, blanket, or low back chair and spend an evening underneath the stars while catching a flick on the outdoor big screen with friends, family and neighbors along Liberty Station’s grassy North Promenade. Show up early and enjoy music and performances highlighting groups in residence at ARTS DISTRICT or visit the open art galleries, studios, and museums. The bustling Liberty Public Market is nearby with many grab & go options.
